Edits for The Wager--revisting England and the regency period. Hope to finish up by the end of next week. Found a section in one of my resource books where a certain Duke built a huge glass conservatory where he could keep exotic flora and fauna. He heated the building using seven miles of of iron pipes fed by an elaborate system of eight furnaces supplied with coal brought by a specially built tramway. At Chiswick the Duke had also had his own zoo, with an elephant, giraffes and other animals wandering in the gardens.
