The Continuing Saga...
The travellers began their journey to Athens on a rainy
spring day. The year was 2013. Researching flights and preparing an itinerary,
was time well spent. The travellers attempted to find flights where they could
stay a few days in Dublin, but one traveler wanted to see Istanbul.
Unfortunately neither one of these ideas took root.
Eventually a flight plan materialized. The trip was to begin
in Portland, Oregon at PDX then on to a four-hour layover in the San Francisco
airport. They knew this wasn’t perfection but they also understood it was the
best possible scenario. From San Francisco they would board a plane to CDG
airport in Paris. They’d visited Paris once before and really wished they could
spend time there, but alas that wasn’t to be. Next they would head to Athens
and arrive at the Eleftherios Venizelos Intl. Arpt. (LOL, It was all Greek to
them.) One of the travellers would celebrate their birthday on the first day in
Greece.
Leading up to this journey the members of this group would
plan day trips to Delphi and Olympia, hoping to make a ferry ride to photograph
sea caves on the island of Zakynthos, visit another small island as well as the
Agios Stefanos Monastery at Meteora.
Sleep proved elusive to the group as excitement kept them
awake.
